Photodynamic Therapy: Selective Activation of Cellular Targets for Dermatological Therapy
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive technique that uses light of specific wavelengths (blue or red) to activate a photosensitizing medical agent applied to the skin (MAL, ALA). This produces free radicals, which fight damaged cells and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The PDT action is extremely targeted, since the light activates only the photosensitizer selectively absorbed by the cellular targets, with beneficial effects, and without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. Photodynamic Therapy is a medical technique widespread in dermatology for the effective treatment of pre-cancerous and benign cancerous lesions (not melanoma) of the skin.
The cellular mechanisms of photobiostimulation: not only PDT
Photobiostimulation is a non-invasive therapy that uses light to stimulate cellular repair processes that improve the well-being and functionality of tissues.
When light at specific wavelengths penetrates the skin and interacts with the tissues, it triggers a series of biochemical reactions at the cellular level; in fact, the light is absorbed by specific chromophores, molecules capable of selectively absorbing the transmitted energy. The absorption of light by the targets triggers a cascade of biochemical reactions (Increase in ATP production, Controlled production of free radicals, Activation of transcription factors).
The choice of wavelength and energy dose is essential to obtain biological effects, which treat multiple blemishes and pathologies in a comprehensive manner.

Blue LED Light
Acts on the triggering causes of impure skin (acne-prone skin, sebum)
Red LED Light
